About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their operations in Birmingham . This role is critical for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans to ensure efficient and safe extraction of resources. You will work closely with mine operations, geological, and engineering teams to translate resource models into actionable production schedules. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed mine plans, including open pit or underground designs, sequencing, and production schedules.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Mine2-4D) to optimize material movement, equipment utilization, and mine layout.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure plans are practical and achievable, providing technical support.
• Monitor mine performance against plans, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in mine planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design roles.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geology, and geotechnical principles.
• Experience with open pit and/or underground mining operations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
