Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and technically adept Mine Planning Engineer to join their operational team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is pivotal in developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of mineral resources. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations personnel to translate resource models into actionable production schedules, considering factors such as geological variability, equipment capabilities, and environmental constraints. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of mining methodologies, contributing directly to the success and profitability of our client's mining endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed short-term and long-term mine plans, including production schedules, waste removal plans, and equipment utilization strategies.
• Create and update mine layouts, designs, and sequences using specialized mine planning software.
• Collaborate with geologists to incorporate geological models and resource information into planning processes.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Ensure all mine plans comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor operational progress against plans and implement adjustments as necessary.
• Optimize mine designs for safety, efficiency, and resource recovery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design , preferably in open-pit or underground operations.
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, AutoCAD, or similar.
• Strong understanding of geological modeling , resource estimation, and surveying principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of various mining methods and their associated planning requirements.
