About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and strategic Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Bradford, West Yorkshire . This role is fundamental to the long-term success of our mining operations, focusing on the development of comprehensive, technically sound, and economically viable mine plans. You will be responsible for creating short, medium, and long-term mine production schedules, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental standards. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to influence the strategic direction of mining activities and contribute to efficient, sustainable resource extraction for our client.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated short, medium, and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to optimize mine design, layouts, and material movement.
- Conduct economic evaluations and feasibility studies for new mining areas and production methods.
- Collaborate with geology, survey, and operations teams to ensure plans are realistic and achievable.
- Monitor plan execution, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to optimize performance.
- Ensure mine plans comply with all regulatory requirements and company safety standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design, with a strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods.
- Proficiency with leading mine planning and modeling software packages.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret geological and survey data.
- Strong understanding of mine economics and operational constraints.
