Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their established mining operations based in Bradford . This role is critical for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans, ensuring efficient resource extraction and safe working practices. You will be responsible for mine design, scheduling, and production forecasting, working closely with operations and geology teams to achieve production targets. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the mine and work within a challenging yet rewarding environment in West Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed short-term and long-term mine plans , including scheduling and production forecasts.
• Design open-pit or underground mine layouts, considering geological, geotechnical, and economic factors.
• Perform calculations for ore tonnage, grade, and resource recovery.
• Work closely with surveyors and operations teams to implement mine plans effectively.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects or mine expansions.
• Monitor and analyze mine performance against plans, recommending adjustments as needed.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design .
• Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, MineSight).
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in Bradford .
