Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their operations near Belfast , Northern Ireland . This role involves developing short-term and long-term mine plans to optimize resource extraction, ensure operational efficiency, and maintain safety standards. The hybrid nature of this position allows for strategic planning and analysis to be conducted remotely, with regular site visits for operational oversight and coordination. You will work closely with the operations and geology teams to achieve production goals within budget and environmental constraints.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans using specialized software.
• Optimize mine layout, scheduling, and resource utilization to maximize economic recovery.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for potential new mining areas.
• Ensure mine plans comply with safety regulations, environmental permits, and company standards.
• Collaborate with geological and operational teams to align planning with resource models and production capabilities.
• Prepare technical documentation and presentations for project reviews and stakeholder updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Vulcan, Deswik, or similar.
• Solid understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods and equipment.
• Familiarity with geological modeling and reserve estimation processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a detail-oriented approach.
