Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and innovative Mine Planning Engineer to join their dynamic team, working remotely to support operations near Sunderland . You will utilize advanced modeling software and geological data to design mine layouts, production schedules, and operational strategies that maximize resource recovery while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety standards are met. Key Responsibilities

• Develop short-term and long-term mine plans, including pit designs, ramp access, and production sequencing.
• Create and optimize mine layouts and schedules using specialized mine planning software.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic analyses for new mining projects or expansions.
• Collaborate closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to integrate data and ensure plan viability.
• Perform reserve calculations and depletion planning based on geological models.
• Ensure all mine plans adhere to stringent health, safety , and environmental regulations.
• Continuously review and update plans based on operational feedback and changing conditions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design for open-pit or underground mines.
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Surpac, MinePlan, Vulcan, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and geotechnical principles.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret geological and survey data.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet tight deadlines.
