About the Role
Our client is looking for a strategic Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands . This role is central to the successful long-term development of mining operations, involving the creation of detailed plans for resource extraction, mine layout, and production scheduling. You will work closely with geological, engineering, and operational teams to ensure that plans are technically sound, economically viable, and compliant with safety and environmental standards. This position offers a significant opportunity to influence the strategic direction of mining projects and contribute to efficient resource management within the mining industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop short, medium, and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
- Create detailed mine layouts, including access routes, extraction sequences, and waste disposal areas.
- Perform economic evaluations and feasibility studies for proposed mining plans.
- Collaborate with geologists to optimize resource utilization based on reserve models.
- Ensure that mine plans comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize mine planning software to generate designs, simulations, and visualizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning, design, or operations.
- Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
- Strong understanding of mining methods (surface and/or underground), geology, and economics.
- Experience in conducting feasibility studies and economic analysis of mining projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
