About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Mine Planning Specialist to enhance their operations based in Cardiff , Wales . This role is essential for developing efficient, safe, and cost-effective long-term and short-term mining plans. You will be responsible for optimizing resource extraction, scheduling, and production, ensuring alignment with geological data and operational capabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, geology, and engineering teams to translate mine plans into actionable production schedules, driving productivity and profitability within a respected mining organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain integrated mine plans, including long-range, medium-range, and short-term production schedules.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac, Datamine) to design mine layouts, drill and blast patterns, and haulage routes.
• Conduct geological modeling and reserve estimation to inform mine planning processes.
• Collaborate with operations teams to ensure plans are practical, safe, and achievable.
• Perform economic analysis of different mining scenarios and optimize plans for cost-effectiveness and resource recovery.
• Monitor plan execution, analyze variances, and revise plans as needed based on operational feedback and changing conditions.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Planning, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and production scheduling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software suites.
• Solid understanding of mining methods, geology, and mine economics.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Experience working in diverse mining environments, preferably within the UK .
