Mine Safety Inspector (Remote Oversight)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Mine Safety Inspector to join their team, contributing to the well-being of workers across various mining sites. This role involves conducting rigorous safety assessments, ensuring compliance with stringent health and safety regulations, and providing expert guidance to mine management. While the role requires on-site inspections in and around Leeds , there is an element of remote reporting and analysis involved. You will play a critical role in preventing accidents and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organisation, ensuring operations meet the highest standards in the Yorkshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and unannounced safety inspections of mining operations, machinery, and work practices.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Ensure adherence to all relevant national and international mine safety legislation and standards.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to mine personnel at all levels.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, including findings, risk assessments, and improvement plans.
• Advise mine management on best practices for hazard identification and risk mitigation.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in mine safety management or inspection, preferably in underground or surface mining.
• In-depth knowledge of mining hazards, safety procedures, and relevant legislation.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence behaviour.
