Mine Safety Inspector

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Mine Safety Inspector to join their team in the Sunderland region. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the health and safety of all personnel working in and around mining operations by conducting thorough inspections and enforcing regulatory compliance. This role is critical for maintaining a safe working environment and preventing accidents. You will work closely with mine management and employees to identify potential hazards, recommend corrective actions, and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This is an essential role in upholding the highest standards of safety in the UK mining industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections to identify compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending preventive measures.
• Develop, implement, and monitor safety procedures and protocols across all mining operations.
• Deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels of the organization.
• Review and approve safety plans for new projects and operational changes.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and safety-related incidents.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dedicated safety role within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• In-depth knowledge of UK mining legislation and safety standards.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing hazard mitigation strategies.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse workforces in Sunderland .
