Mine Safety Inspector

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and experienced Mine Safety Inspector to ensure the highest standards of health and safety at their mining sites in and around Edinburgh . This critical role involves conducting thorough inspections, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and best practices in the Scottish mining industry. You will play a key part in fostering a safety-first culture and protecting the well-being of all personnel on site. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and unannounced safety inspections of all mining operations, including surface and underground areas.
• Identify unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment and ensure immediate corrective actions are taken.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to mine personnel.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and safety-related incidents.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Health and Safety, such as NEBOSH or equivalent.
• Significant experience as a Safety Officer or Inspector, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
• Thorough knowledge of mining operations, equipment, and associated hazards.
• Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation relevant to the mining industry.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in incident investigation and reporting.
