Mine Safety Inspector

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and knowledgeable Mine Safety Inspector to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across their operations near Plymouth . This critical role involves conducting thorough site inspections, identifying potential hazards, and verifying that safety protocols are strictly followed by all personnel. You will play a key part in maintaining a safe working environment within the mining operations, investigating incidents, and recommending corrective actions to prevent future accidents. Your expertise will be crucial in upholding the company's commitment to the well-being of its workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular and unscheduled inspections of mine sites to assess compliance with safety regulations.
• Identify hazardous conditions and unsafe work practices, issuing citations and stop-work orders as necessary.
• Investigate mining accidents, injuries, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending preventive measures.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for mine workers and supervisors.
• Review mine safety plans and ensure their adequacy and implementation.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, investigations, and safety training activities.
• Advise management on safety matters and promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine safety inspection or a similar role within the mining industry.
• In-depth knowledge of MSHA (or equivalent regulatory body) safety standards and procedures.
• Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation techniques.
• Strong communication, observational, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel to various mine sites.
