About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated and diligent Mine Safety Officer to join their operations in Belfast . This role is essential for maintaining a safe working environment by developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety protocols and procedures across all mining activities. You will conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and training sessions to ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. This is a vital position for an individual committed to promoting a robust safety culture and safeguarding the well-being of all personnel on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the site's Health and Safety Management System.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training programs to all employees and contractors.
- Advise site management on all matters relating to health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Maintain safety documentation and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate).
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a health and safety role, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Thorough knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and mining regulations.
- Strong understanding of risk assessment techniques and accident investigation procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of staff.
