Mine Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Mine Safety Officer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire . This hybrid role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of health and safety across all mining activities. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing safety policies, conducting inspections, training staff, and investigating incidents to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. Your role will involve a balance of on-site assessments and administrative duties, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety programs and procedures for the mine site.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of operations, equipment, and work practices.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training programs to all levels of mine personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international mining safety regulations .
• Maintain safety records and prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Relevant certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a dedicated safety role , preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
• Thorough knowledge of mining operations and associated hazards.
• Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Ability to conduct effective training sessions and safety inductions.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills.
