About the Role
Our client seeks a precise and meticulous Mine Surveyor to join their team near Edinburgh , contributing to the accurate mapping and measurement of mining sites. This role is critical for ensuring the integrity of mine development, production, and rehabilitation efforts. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining survey control, undertaking topographical surveys, and providing essential spatial data to engineering and geological teams. The hybrid nature of this role allows for effective planning and data processing remotely, while ensuring essential onsite surveying is conducted diligently.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct surface and underground surveys to establish and maintain control networks.
- Measure and map mine workings, including excavations, infrastructure, and surface topography.
- Prepare and present survey data, plans, and reports using CAD and GIS software.
- Monitor and record volumetric data for resource estimation and mine progress tracking.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures during all surveying activities.
- Collaborate with mine engineers, geologists, and construction teams to provide accurate spatial information.
- Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor or related surveying role, ideally within the mining industry .
- Proficiency in using total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and associated survey software (e.g., AutoCAD, Carlson).
- Strong understanding of geodetic principles and coordinate systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both onsite and remotely in a hybrid capacity.
