About the Role
Our client requires a specialized Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK . This role is critical for ensuring a safe and healthy underground working environment by designing, implementing, and managing effective mine ventilation systems. You will be responsible for controlling air quality, temperature, and humidity, as well as mitigating dust and gas hazards. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mine environmental control principles within the mining industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mine ventilation networks to ensure adequate airflow and air quality throughout underground workings.
- Monitor ventilation system performance, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct air quality surveys, assessing levels of dust, gases, and other airborne contaminants.
- Develop and manage strategies for controlling temperature and humidity in underground environments.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to mine ventilation and environmental standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in ventilation.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering.
- Proficiency in mine ventilation software (e.g., Ventsim, Ventsim USER) and air monitoring equipment.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mine environmental control.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in an underground mining environment.
