Mine Ventilation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their technical team, supporting operations near Leeds . This role is essential for ensuring a safe and healthy underground working environment by designing, implementing, and managing mine ventilation systems. You will be responsible for airflow modelling, fan selection, dust and gas control, and thermal comfort assessments. This hybrid position involves both site visits for inspections and system analysis, as well as office-based work for design, reporting, and remote collaboration with mine management and safety officers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems to meet regulatory standards for air quality, temperature, and humidity.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits of ventilation infrastructure and performance.
• Utilize ventilation modeling software to simulate airflow, predict contaminant dispersion, and optimize system efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategies for dust suppression and control of hazardous gases.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and recommendations for ventilation improvements.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a specialization in ventilation.
• At least 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
• Proficiency with mine ventilation simulation software (e.g., Ventsim, Minescape).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and air quality management principles.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to conduct site assessments and troubleshoot effectively.
