About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Bristol , focusing on designing and managing ventilation systems for underground mining operations. This role is crucial for ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive working environment by controlling air quality, temperature, and pressure within the mine. You will apply your expertise in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and mine environmental control to optimize ventilation networks, monitor air quality, and implement solutions for dust and gas control. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance with strict safety regulations and improving operational efficiency through effective ventilation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, optimize, and maintain underground mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and environmental conditions.
- Conduct regular assessments of air quality, temperature, humidity, and dust levels within the mine.
- Utilize specialized software for ventilation network modeling, simulation, and analysis.
- Develop strategies and implement solutions for controlling heat, dust, and hazardous gases in underground environments.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and regulators.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to mine ventilation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and air quality monitoring principles.
- Proficiency with mine ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, GOLDSIM).
- Experience with relevant health and safety regulations and standards for mining operations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
