About the Role
Our client is looking for a specialized Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their operations in Bristol . This critical role focuses on ensuring a safe and healthy underground working environment by designing, implementing, and maintaining effective mine ventilation systems. You will be responsible for airflow management, temperature and humidity control, and dust and gas monitoring to meet stringent regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mine environmental engineering, coupled with practical experience in designing and troubleshooting ventilation networks. This position offers a unique opportunity to significantly impact operational safety and productivity within our client's underground mining projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mine ventilation systems for underground operations.
- Conduct airflow and environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity, gases, dust).
- Develop and implement strategies for controlling air quality and thermal comfort.
- Specify ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and regulators.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental ventilation regulations.
- Troubleshoot ventilation issues and recommend solutions to maintain system integrity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience specifically in mine ventilation engineering.
- Strong understanding of mine ventilation principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Proficiency with mine ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, Ventsim Visual).
- Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
