Our client is seeking a specialized Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team near Bristol , responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring ventilation systems in underground mining operations. This role is critical for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment by controlling air quality, temperature, and humidity. You will work closely with mine management and safety officers to optimize airflow and maintain compliance with stringent ventilation standards. Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mine ventilation networks using specialized software.
- Conduct airflow surveys and air quality monitoring to assess system performance.
- Specify and select ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and environmental controls.
- Develop and implement strategies for managing heat, dust, and noxious gases in underground environments.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and ventilation regulations.
- Troubleshoot ventilation issues and recommend effective solutions to maintain optimal conditions.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on fluid dynamics.
- 5+ years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining .
- Proficiency in mine ventilation simulation software (e.g., Ventsim, MutSim).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and air quality management principles.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation pertaining to mine ventilation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
