About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team based in Sheffield . This crucial role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing effective mine ventilation systems to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. You will be responsible for air quality monitoring, fan selection, ductwork design, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations for underground mining operations. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics applied to the mining industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mine ventilation networks to provide adequate airflow and control contaminant levels.
- Conduct airflow modeling and simulations to predict ventilation performance under various conditions.
- Specify and select ventilation fans, ducting, and other related equipment.
- Monitor mine air quality and thermal conditions, recommending adjustments as needed.
- Develop and implement dust and gas control strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations pertaining to mine ventilation.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ventilation.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in mine ventilation engineering.
- Proficiency in mine ventilation software (e.g., Ventsim, Hugoniot).
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer principles.
- Knowledge of air monitoring instrumentation and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team in the Sheffield region.
