About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their underground mining operations near Sheffield . You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing effective ventilation systems to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel. This crucial role involves assessing air quality, controlling dust and gas levels, and optimizing airflow within the mine. You will work closely with mine management, safety officers, and geologists to develop and maintain ventilation plans that meet regulatory requirements and operational needs. Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimize mine ventilation systems, including fan selection, ducting, and airflow control measures.
• Conduct regular surveys and monitoring of mine air quality, temperature, and humidity.
• Identify and assess potential hazards related to airborne contaminants, gases, and dust.
• Develop and implement strategies for controlling dust, fumes, and noxious gases.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations pertaining to mine ventilation.
• Prepare ventilation plans and reports for regulatory submission and internal use.
• Troubleshoot ventilation system issues and recommend corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, with a focus on underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of mine ventilation principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Familiarity with mine ventilation modeling software and air monitoring equipment.
• Understanding of relevant health and safety legislation related to mine environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment.
