About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team based in Plymouth, Devon, UK . This specialized role is crucial for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment underground by designing, implementing, and managing effective mine ventilation systems. You will be responsible for controlling air quality, temperature, and humidity, as well as mitigating dust and gas hazards. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and ventilation modeling, applying these principles to optimize airflow and ensure compliance with stringent safety regulations within the mining industry . Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and air quality.
- Conduct surveys and measurements of air velocity, pressure, temperature, and contaminants.
- Develop strategies to control dust, fumes, and potentially explosive gases underground.
- Model and simulate ventilation systems using specialized software to predict performance and identify potential issues.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to mine ventilation.
- Collaborate with mine operations and safety teams to address ventilation challenges and optimize system efficiency.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on ventilation.
- Demonstrated experience as a Mine Ventilation Engineer or in a similar role within the mining sector .
- Strong knowledge of ventilation principles, fan performance, and air distribution in underground environments.
- Proficiency in using mine ventilation software (e.g., Ventsim, VentSim, AVSim).
- Understanding of dust control, gas monitoring, and mine environmental regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
