Mineral Processing Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mineral Processing Engineer to join their team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is critical to optimizing the extraction and recovery of valuable minerals from ore. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and troubleshooting processing circuits, ensuring maximum efficiency and product quality. This position requires a strong understanding of metallurgical principles, process control, and the ability to work hands-on with plant operations within the mining and minerals sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mineral processing flowsheets and circuits.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to evaluate different processing techniques.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions to improve recovery, grade, and throughput.
• Monitor process performance using data analysis and key performance indicators.
• Specify and select processing equipment, such as crushers, mills, flotation cells, and thickeners.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards in all processing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mineral Processing Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mineral processing operations or design.
• Solid understanding of comminution, flotation, gravity separation, and hydrometallurgy.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet).
• Experience with process instrumentation and control systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication abilities.
