Mining Equipment Maintenance Engineer - Heavy Machinery

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Mining Equipment Maintenance Engineer to support their operations in Southampton . This hands-on role is essential for ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of heavy mining machinery, including excavators, drills, and haul trucks. You will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of a wide range of equipment, directly impacting operational uptime and efficiency in the demanding mining environment. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on all heavy mining equipment according to manufacturer specifications and company schedules.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on a variety of mining machinery.
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs or replacements.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities performed on equipment.
• Work closely with the operations team to schedule maintenance activities, minimizing downtime.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Apprenticeship or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in maintaining and repairing heavy machinery, preferably in a mining or construction context.
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency with relevant tools, diagnostic equipment, and computer systems.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for working with heavy equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding operational environment.
