Mining Geologist - Resource Estimation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mining Geologist with a focus on Resource Estimation to join their team operating near Nottingham . This role is critical for accurately defining and quantifying mineral reserves, which forms the basis for mine planning and economic evaluation. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting geological data, building 3D geological models, and applying industry-standard geostatistical methods to estimate resource quantities and qualities. Your insights will directly influence the strategic direction and economic viability of mining projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and interpret geological data, including drill core logs, assay results, and geological mapping.
• Develop and maintain robust 3D geological models using specialized software.
• Apply geostatistical techniques (e.g., kriging, simulation) to estimate mineral resources and reserves.
• Perform sensitivity analyses and uncertainty assessments for resource estimates.
• Collaborate with mine engineers and operations teams to integrate resource models into mine planning.
• Prepare technical reports compliant with industry standards (e.g., JORC, NI 43-101).
• Conduct site visits to oversee data collection and geological activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or Economic Geology.
• 5+ years of experience in resource estimation for mining operations.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine) and geostatistical software (e.g., Isatis, GSLIB).
• Strong understanding of geological principles, structural geology, and ore deposit formation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
