About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous Mortgage Underwriter to join their team in Bristol . This hybrid role is crucial for assessing the risk associated with mortgage applications, ensuring adherence to lending policies and regulatory requirements within the banking and finance industry. You will perform detailed reviews of financial documents, credit histories, and property valuations, working a mix of remote and office-based days to achieve optimal productivity and team engagement, contributing to sound lending decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, including income, assets, liabilities, and credit reports.
- Evaluate property appraisals and titles to ensure they meet company standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Determine the eligibility of applicants based on established lending criteria and risk assessment policies.
- Communicate decisions clearly and provide feedback to loan officers and brokers regarding underwriting requirements.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar role within mortgage lending.
- Solid understanding of mortgage lending principles, credit policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex financial information.
- Excellent attention to detail and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in loan origination software and underwriting systems.
