Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, credit reports, and financial documentation.
• Assess borrower's financial capacity, creditworthiness, and property valuation.
• Make sound decisions on loan approval, denial, or counter-offer based on underwriting guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant lending regulations and internal policies.
• Communicate effectively with brokers, loan officers, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate and detailed loan files and documentation.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with mortgage lending.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar lending role.
• In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, underwriting principles, and loan products.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in mortgage origination software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a pipeline of applications efficiently.
