Job Description
Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clerk of Works/ NEC Supervisor to join their team on a contract basis. This position is pivotal to ensuring various capital improvement projects across Hampshire are delivered to the highest standards in compliance with NEC4 supervision requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and ensuring construction works comply with contract specifications and road adoption standards.
Relaying instructions to contractors, subject to written confirmation by the NEC4 Project Manager or Supervisor.
Informing the NEC4 Project Manager, Supervisor, or inspector of work progress and arising issues.
Resolving minor design issues with contractors and reporting them as necessary.
Taking and agreeing measurements, labour and plant returns, and maintaining detailed diaries and records on day works, claims, and related matters.
Liaising with contractors, developers, Statutory Authorities, Police, and the public to resolve queries and practical site problems.
Maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety throughout all project phases.
Addressing sustainability issues during the construction process.
Job Requirements:
RQF level 3 or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering and Highways projects.
Extensive experience in the construction of Civil Engineering and Highways projects.
Strong knowledge of statutory regulations, including chapter 8 TSM, NRSWA, and Health & Safety regulations.
Proven ability to assess and interpret contract documents and drawings effectively.
Capability to prioritise workload across multiple concurrent schemes.
Ability to determine when to seek assistance or report issues.
Driver's licence (category B) required due to travel requirements.
Working Conditions:
Site-based role with the provision of a site office or central office location.
Work on live highways and construction sites, including lone working scenarios.
Regular communication with colleagues, contractors, and developers in challenging environments.
Commitment to fulfilling travel requirements associated with the role.
