Network Cabling Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Network Cabling Engineer to join their IT infrastructure team, operating remotely but requiring site visits as needed in and around Cambridge . This role involves the installation, testing, and termination of data and voice cabling infrastructure within commercial and educational environments. You will ensure that network cabling systems are installed to high standards, facilitating reliable data transmission. This position is perfect for an organised and technically proficient individual passionate about building robust IT networks in the Cambridge area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fibre optic cabling.
• Install cable containment systems such as tray, basket, and conduit.
• Perform fault finding and repair on existing network cabling infrastructure.
• Read and interpret structured cabling design drawings and specifications.
• Ensure all work is completed to industry standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, BICSI).

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Network Cabling Engineer or Data Cabling Engineer.
• Proficiency in terminating and testing various types of network cables.
• Familiarity with network testing equipment (e.g., cable testers, OTDRs).
• Strong understanding of networking principles and infrastructure.
• A full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites as required.
