About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent Network Cabling Engineer to join their technical team in Reading . This role is focused on the installation, testing, and termination of structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre optic networks, for commercial clients. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity and performance of data infrastructure within various business premises. This position is ideal for a meticulous individual with a strong understanding of networking principles and a commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable cabling solutions across Berkshire and surrounding areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) and fibre optic cabling infrastructure.
- Read and interpret network design layouts , blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate installations.
- Perform thorough testing of installed cabling using appropriate testers (e.g., Fluke) and document results.
- Troubleshoot and repair existing network cabling faults.
- Manage installation materials and tools, ensuring efficient use and tidiness of work areas.
- Adhere to all relevant industry standards and health and safety guidelines on site.
Requirements
- Proven experience in structured network cabling installation .
- Proficiency in terminating and testing various cable types, including fibre optic.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA/EIA.
- Ability to use cable testing equipment effectively.
- Good physical condition and ability to work in various site conditions.
- A full UK driving license is essential for travel within the Reading area and beyond.
