Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer to join their IT operations team in Norwich . This role is critical for designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust and secure network infrastructure that supports the company's operations. You will be responsible for network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and ensuring high availability and reliability of network services. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of networking protocols and hardware, with a commitment to network security and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, install, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, latency, and other network-related problems.
• Implement and manage network security measures, including VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access control lists.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure network resilience and implement disaster recovery plans for network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to support application deployments and ensure optimal network performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering or administration.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs), and network hardware from major vendors.
• Experience with network security principles and technologies.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment in Norwich .
