Network Infrastructure Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Network Infrastructure Technician to join their expanding IT support division in Norwich . This role is crucial for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and cabling within client premises. You will be responsible for ensuring robust and reliable network connectivity, diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues, and implementing network upgrades. This is a hands-on position for a technically proficient individual who enjoys working with network hardware and contributes to the smooth operation of IT environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test network cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fibre optic) according to industry standards.
• Mount and configure network equipment, including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.
• Perform diagnostic tests on network infrastructure to identify and resolve connectivity and performance issues.
• Assist with network upgrades, including hardware replacement and system configuration changes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network layouts, equipment inventory, and cabling infrastructure.
• Respond to network infrastructure support requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements

• Proven experience in network installation, cabling, or IT infrastructure support.
• Familiarity with network hardware such as routers, switches, and Wi-Fi access points.
• Understanding of network cabling standards and best practices for installation and termination.
• Ability to use network testing tools (e.g., cable testers, network analyzers).
• Good problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
• A valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to client sites within the Norwich area.
