About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Offshore Wind Project Developer to join their expanding team in Sheffield . This vital role will focus on identifying, evaluating, and securing new opportunities for offshore wind farm development across the UK. You will be responsible for managing the early-stage development process, including site assessment, stakeholder engagement, securing consents, and initial financial evaluations. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a significant part in the growth of renewable energy and contribute to the UK's net-zero targets within a leading organization in the energy sector .
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and assess potential sites for new offshore wind projects, considering technical, environmental, and commercial factors.
- Lead the development process, including early-stage feasibility studies, site investigations, and environmental impact assessments.
- Engage with key stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory agencies, local communities, and potential supply chain partners.
- Manage the consenting process, ensuring all necessary permits and approvals are obtained.
- Develop business cases and preliminary financial models to support project investment decisions.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, legal, and finance teams throughout the project development lifecycle.
- Stay current with market trends, policy developments, and technological advancements in the offshore wind industry .
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, Business, or a related field.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in project development, preferably within the renewable energy sector , with a strong focus on offshore wind.
- Proven track record in securing consents and managing stakeholder relationships for large infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of the offshore wind project lifecycle, key technologies, and market dynamics.
- Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking abilities.
