About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Offshore Wind Technician to join their team in Portsmouth , supporting the operation and maintenance of offshore wind farms. This hands-on role involves performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of wind turbine systems, both onshore and offshore. You will work as part of a skilled team, ensuring the reliable and efficient performance of turbines. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical or electrical aptitude and is comfortable working in demanding environments. This is a crucial role in maintaining renewable energy infrastructure and contributing to the UK's clean energy goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance on wind turbine components, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair faults in wind turbines to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance according to established schedules and procedures.
- Ensure all work is carried out in strict accordance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and other technicians to manage work effectively and report on maintenance activities.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with heavy machinery, electrical systems, or within the wind energy sector is highly desirable.
- Ability to work at heights and in challenging offshore environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid GWO (Global Wind Organisation) basic safety training certification is essential.
