About the Role

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Online History Teacher to join their educational team, with opportunities for both remote and in-person collaboration in Sunderland . This role involves delivering captivating history lessons to secondary school students, developing engaging content, and assessing student understanding through a blend of online and occasional on-site interactions. You will play a crucial role in fostering a passion for history and critical thinking skills among young learners within a flexible hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging online history lessons covering various historical periods and themes.
• Develop curriculum materials, presentations, and interactive activities suitable for remote learning environments.
• Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and project-based work, providing timely feedback.
• Facilitate online discussions and debates to encourage critical thinking and historical analysis.
• Participate in occasional in-person team meetings and professional development sessions at the Sunderland location.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and progress.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in History or a related subject; a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred.
• Experience in teaching history at the secondary school level, preferably with some online or blended learning experience.
• Strong understanding of historical events and historiography, with the ability to present them in an accessible manner.
• Proficiency with online teaching platforms, video conferencing, and digital educational tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to both online and in-person settings.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students to engage with historical content.
