About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Operations Manager to lead the operational excellence of their popular Outdoor Adventure Centre near Sunderland . This role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of a wide range of outdoor activities, from climbing and kayaking to team-building exercises. You will manage a dedicated team of instructors and support staff, oversee equipment maintenance and safety protocols, and contribute to the strategic development of new programmes and offerings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in outdoor pursuits, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a commitment to providing unforgettable experiences for diverse groups, including schools, corporate clients, and families, in a stunning natural setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the adventure centre, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of all programmed activities.
• Manage and lead a team of qualified outdoor instructors and support staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Develop, implement, and enforce robust health, safety, and risk management protocols for all activities and facilities.
• Manage inventory and maintenance schedules for all outdoor equipment, ensuring it meets industry safety standards.
• Contribute to the development of new adventure programmes and activity offerings to meet market demands and client needs.
• Ensure excellent customer service and client satisfaction, acting as a key point of contact for group leaders and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in managing outdoor adventure centres or similar experiential learning environments.
• Possession of relevant National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications for a range of outdoor activities.
• Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, safety management, and emergency procedures.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Experience in budget management and operational planning.
