Optical Network Engineer - Telecoms

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer optical network architectures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and performance requirements.
• Plan and oversee the deployment of new optical equipment and fibre optic cabling systems.
• Conduct network performance analysis, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimisation strategies.
• Develop and execute test plans for optical network components and systems.
• Troubleshoot complex optical network issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to evaluate new technologies and solutions for the telecoms network .

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in optical network design and engineering.
• Strong understanding of fibre optic principles, WDM/DWDM technologies, and optical transmission systems.
• Proficiency with network simulation and design tools.
• Experience with optical power meters, OTDRs, and other fibre testing equipment.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting .
