About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Optical Network Engineer to join their innovative team in Sunderland . This hybrid role involves the design, implementation, and optimization of cutting-edge optical network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement optical network architectures, including DWDM, OTN, and PON systems.
- Perform capacity planning and traffic management for optical networks to meet growing demand.
- Configure and troubleshoot optical transport equipment from various vendors.
- Develop and execute test plans for new network deployments and upgrades.
- Monitor network health and performance using specialized tools, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
- Collaborate with planning, operations, and field teams to ensure seamless network integration and maintenance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in optical network design and engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of optical transmission technologies, including coherent optics and optical amplifiers.
- Hands-on experience with optical test equipment (e.g., OTDR, optical spectrum analyzers).
- Familiarity with network management systems and protocols relevant to optical networks.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical problems.
