Outdoor Adventure Leader

About the Role

Our client is seeking an adventurous and safety-conscious Outdoor Adventure Leader to guide groups on a variety of exciting activities in and around Plymouth . This role is perfect for someone passionate about the outdoors and experienced in leading expeditions and outdoor pursuits. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of participants, delivering engaging experiences, and promoting an appreciation for the natural environment within the Leisure & Sports sector. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership and practical skills in various outdoor disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead groups safely and effectively on outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, climbing, and cycling.
• Plan and prepare for expeditions, including risk assessments, route planning, and equipment checks.
• Provide instruction and guidance to participants, ensuring they develop relevant skills and knowledge.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, emergency procedures, and environmental guidelines at all times.
• Manage group dynamics and foster a positive, encouraging, and supportive atmosphere.
• Maintain and manage all necessary outdoor equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.

Requirements

• Relevant National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications for leading outdoor activities (e.g., Mountain Leader, kayak instructor).
• Proven experience in leading outdoor adventure trips for diverse groups.
• Strong knowledge of outdoor safety, first aid, and emergency management procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A passion for the outdoors and a commitment to environmental stewardship.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, and to stay away on multi-day trips.
