Job overview
The Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Educator will provide expert clinical leadership, education and practice development to improve the quality, consistency and experience of palliative and end-of-life care across hospital and community settings.
The post holder will work collaboratively across the Thames Valley ICB to identify gaps in knowledge, skills, confidence and care pathways, in-order to support high-quality, person-centred palliative care.
A key responsibility will be to provide education to acute and community services, alongside university academic settings.
The post holder will act as a clinical educator, facilitator, role model and change agent, supporting nurses to translate evidence, policy and best practice into everyday clinical care

Person specification
Experience
- Substantial experience in palliative and end-of-life care.
- Experience of teaching and supporting nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Experience of practice development and implementing change
- Experience of quality improvement, audit or service evaluation.
- Experience of working with hospice or specialist palliative care services
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in palliative and end-of-life care.
- Master's level qualification or evidence of study at Master's level.
- PGCert Education
- Quality improvement qualification or experience.
Knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of principles and practice of palliative and end-of-life care.
- Knowledge of symptom assessment and management.
