Job Description
20-25 hours per week Ideally across 4 days
£40,000 FTE 100% office based
We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Accountant to take responsibility for the day-to-day finances of a small but professional group of SME businesses.
The employer is also open to considering temporary or temp-to-permanent arrangements for this role.
This is very much a hands-on finance role. The majority of your time will be spent looking after the transactional side of the accounts, including sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and cash management. However, you'll also need the experience to take those accounts through month end and put together management accounts.
It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the variety and ownership that comes with working in an SME environment and wants to remain close to the day-to-day numbers rather than move into a more technical or commercially focused accounting role.
What you'll be doing:
What we're looking for:
You'll need solid, hands-on experience across both transactional finance and month end.
You could currently be working as a Senior Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, Accountant, Accounts Officer or similar. What matters most is that you're equally comfortable getting involved in the everyday detail of purchase ledger, sales ledger and banking as you are pulling everything together at month end.
This probably won't suit someone looking to step away from transactional finance into a purely management accounting or analytical role. Equally, you'll need more than ledger-only experience, as you'll be expected to confidently take the accounts through month end.
Experience within an SME, owner-managed business or multi-company environment would be particularly useful.
The working pattern:
The role is part-time, around 20-25 hours per week, ideally spread across four days, which could work particularly well for someone wanting to work school-friendly hours or simply looking for a better balance.
The position is 100% office based in Solihull.
Salary: £40,000 FTE, pro rata depending on agreed hours.
If you enjoy being close to the detail, like taking ownership of the numbers and want a broad SME finance position with genuine part-time flexibility, please click on "apply" as soon as possible.
You are required to be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive it is not always possible to respond to unsuccessful applicants. Therefore, if we have not responded to your application within five days please assume that on this occasion your application has not been successful.
