About the Role
Our client is seeking a meticulous and organised Payroll Accountant to manage their payroll operations from their offices in Belfast . This role is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees, managing associated statutory obligations, and providing essential support to the HR and finance functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll legislation and a keen eye for detail to maintain the integrity of payroll data. Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly and monthly payroll for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
- Manage all aspects of the payroll system, including starters, leavers, tax codes, and National Insurance contributions.
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to HMRC and other relevant bodies.
- Reconcile payroll data with the general ledger and investigate any discrepancies.
- Administer employee benefits related to payroll, such as pensions and other deductions.
- Liaise with external payroll providers or internal departments to resolve payroll queries and issues.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a dedicated payroll or payroll accounting role.
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, and National Insurance.
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Star, Sage Payroll, BrightPay) and MS Excel.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
