Penetration Tester

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and ethical Penetration Tester to join their expanding cybersecurity team, ideally based near Southampton . This role is essential for proactively identifying vulnerabilities in our client's IT infrastructure and applications before malicious actors can exploit them. You will conduct sophisticated simulated attacks to assess security weaknesses and provide actionable recommendations for remediation. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a security expert to directly contribute to strengthening the organisation's defenses in a dynamic digital landscape, with a significant portion of the work being conducted remotely.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive penetration tests on external and internal networks, web applications, and mobile applications.
• Identify, analyse, and document security vulnerabilities and their potential impact.
• Develop detailed reports outlining findings, risk assessments, and remediation recommendations.
• Conduct social engineering exercises and physical security assessments where applicable.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest exploitation techniques, tools, and threat landscapes.
• Collaborate with development and IT teams to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Penetration Tester or in a similar offensive security role.
• Demonstrated expertise in using penetration testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap).
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and web application security.
• Experience in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for tool development.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Relevant certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or GPEN are highly regarded.
