Penetration Tester

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled and ethical Penetration Tester to join their growing cybersecurity team in Southampton . In this role, you will be responsible for identifying security vulnerabilities in our client's applications, networks, and systems through simulated attacks. Your findings will be critical in helping the organization strengthen its defenses and protect sensitive data. This position requires a proactive mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of offensive security techniques to provide actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive penetration testing on web applications, APIs, networks, and cloud environments.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and identify exploitable weaknesses.
• Develop detailed reports outlining identified vulnerabilities, their potential impact, and remediation recommendations.
• Collaborate with development and IT teams to ensure identified vulnerabilities are addressed effectively.
• Stay current with the latest penetration testing methodologies, tools, and emerging threats.
• Assist in the development and refinement of the company's offensive security program.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Penetration Tester or in a similar offensive security role.
• Proficiency with penetration testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap, OWASP Top 10).
• Strong understanding of network protocols , operating systems, and web application security.
• Experience in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for security automation.
• Relevant certifications such as OSCP, CEH, or CREST are highly desirable.
