About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and meticulous Penetration Tester to join their dedicated security team in Southampton . This role is crucial for proactively identifying security vulnerabilities within the organisation's systems, applications, and networks before malicious actors can exploit them. You will conduct rigorous security assessments, simulate real-world attacks, and provide detailed reports with actionable recommendations for remediation. This is an exciting opportunity for a security-focused individual to contribute directly to the robust defence of critical infrastructure and sensitive data.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and report on external and internal network penetration tests.
• Perform web application security assessments and vulnerability analysis.
• Conduct social engineering tests and phishing campaigns to assess human vulnerability.
• Utilize a variety of penetration testing tools and methodologies (e.g., Metasploit, Burp Suite, Nmap).
• Document findings clearly and concisely, providing practical, prioritized recommendations for mitigation.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to track remediation efforts and verify fixes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in penetration testing or ethical hacking.
• Proficiency with common penetration testing frameworks and tools.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, web application security, and common vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report generation and stakeholder interaction.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in our Southampton office.
