Petroleum Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration and development team, working remotely with an administrative base in Leeds . This role is fundamental to identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon prospects within new and existing basins. You will leverage extensive geological knowledge, seismic interpretation skills, and basin modeling techniques to assess risk and opportunity. This position is ideal for an independent, analytical geologist who thrives on uncovering subsurface potential and contributing directly to the company's exploration strategy through remote collaboration and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive seismic interpretation and attribute analysis to identify structural and stratigraphic traps.
• Integrate diverse geological datasets, including well logs, core data, and regional studies, to build subsurface models.
• Evaluate exploration and appraisal opportunities, assessing geological risk and potential hydrocarbon volumes.
• Contribute to the generation of drilling targets and well planning operations.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and management through virtual meetings and shared digital platforms.
• Stay abreast of the latest geological concepts, exploration technologies, and basin evolution understanding.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in petroleum geology , with a strong track record in exploration or appraisal.
• Expertise in seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
• Proficiency in sequence stratigraphy, structural geology, and sedimentology relevant to hydrocarbon exploration.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proven ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
