Petroleum Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration team based in Leeds . This role is integral to identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon prospects. You will utilize geological data, advanced interpretation techniques, and subsurface modeling to assess resource potential and support exploration and development strategies. Working collaboratively with geoscientists and engineers, you will contribute significantly to the company's exploration success and portfolio growth within the UKCS and international projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret geological data from seismic surveys, well logs, and core samples to identify and map hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Perform basin analysis and regional geological studies to understand petroleum systems.
• Develop and present geological models and prospect evaluations to internal teams and management.
• Utilize geological software and databases for data management and interpretation.
• Collaborate with exploration and development teams to integrate geological insights into field development plans.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in geological exploration.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in petroleum exploration geology.
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and geological mapping software.
• Strong understanding of sequence stratigraphy , sedimentology, and structural geology.
• Experience with basin modeling and play fairway analysis is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
