Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their Product Development team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is crucial for the design, development, and optimization of innovative drug delivery systems and dosage forms. You will work on projects spanning pre-formulation studies through to early-stage clinical supply, ensuring that formulations are stable, efficacious, and manufacturable. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of new medicines within a collaborative, R&D-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients, informing formulation design.
• Develop and optimize various dosage forms, including oral solids, liquids, injectables, and topical formulations, within a hybrid work setting.
• Perform stability studies, dissolution testing, and other analytical characterizations to assess formulation performance.
• Scale-up formulations from laboratory bench to pilot scale, working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams.
• Prepare technical documentation, formulation reports, and contribute to regulatory submission documents.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Solid understanding of drug delivery technologies , excipient selection, and dosage form design.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical methods relevant to formulation development (e.g., HPLC, DSC, dissolution testing).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
