Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Pharmaceutical Formulation Scientist to join their Product Development team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is pivotal in the design, development, and optimization of stable and effective drug delivery systems, transforming active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) into viable medicinal products. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including analytical development, process engineering, and regulatory affairs, to ensure seamless product development from early-stage research through to commercialization. This is an exciting opportunity for a scientist passionate about drug product development to contribute to impactful pharmaceutical innovations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel pharmaceutical formulations (e.g., oral solid dosage, injectables) for various therapeutic areas.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies to understand API properties and compatibility.
• Perform formulation optimization experiments to enhance drug solubility, stability, and bioavailability.
• Characterize drug products using a range of analytical techniques.
• Develop and validate manufacturing processes for new formulations.
• Prepare technical documentation for regulatory submissions, ensuring compliance with GMP standards.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development .
• Proficiency in various dosage form development, including solid dosage forms and/or parenteral formulations.
• Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, DSC, TGA, and particle size analysis.
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory guidelines for drug product development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
